At best, given his history, you'd have to expect if he said that with no qualifications he would just undercut it with a later statement.

Ditko's new (to me, at least) revelation that he plotted and pencilled the first Doctor Strange story without any prior input from Lee (though he's unclear if he named the character) does beg the question, does Ditko think that Lee is the co-creator of Doctor Strange (and, while I don't think this comes up for a few decades, if the current Superman legal situation is upheld by the courts, does Ditko think he or his heirs should pursue copyright reversion on the first Doctor Strange story when the time comes).bobhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02357760578699371017noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10314381.post-74443360978841385962008-05-21T12:33:00.000-04:002008-05-21T12:33:00.000-04:00You've covered this well, and I agree with most of...You've covered this well, and I agree with most of your points. Ditko's writing style is very hard to follow at times, and there appears to be more than a little bitterness not only to Lee but to fans in general, as though we are ALL against him or blind to any objectivity.

I've met and corresponded with Stan Lee and he has been nothing but pleasant in our dealings, using the very same style as he does in his outward persona. I suspect Stan is a big kid that never took any of it as seriously as Ditko and never realized the consequences. I thoroughly disagree with Stan, though, on his feeling that since spider-man was his idea that he is the sole creator.

What does Ditko want from this? I don't know. Not money, certainly. I'm sure Lee stating "Steve Ditko and I created Spider-Man" or Stan Lee and Steve Ditko are the co-creators of Spider-Man would be the right way to go.

Nick CaputoAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10314381.post-7247901957624971632008-05-19T21:27:00.000-04:002008-05-19T21:27:00.000-04:00A few comic book stores are carrying the book (Jim...A few comic book stores are carrying the book (Jim Hanley's Universe in New York, the Beguiling and Dragon Lady in Toronto. Anyone who knows of others feel free to chime in), so apparently Snyder does sell them at a wholesale rate to interested retailers. I don't know if there are any stores or group of stores in Scotland who have enough of a customer base interested in this to make it worthwhile for them.bobhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02357760578699371017noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10314381.post-79361632719627498382008-05-18T18:39:00.000-04:002008-05-18T18:39:00.000-04:00I'm glad you wrote this, I live in Scotland and at...I'm glad you wrote this, I live in Scotland and at some point I'll get some american money to get this thing. I really wish Snyder would go to more trouble to get this stuff in Previews and on internet shops. If he printed a bunch for Amazon to sell, Ditkos message would get out a lot faster. This sounds like I'm being lazy,, but I've never needed to get some dollars and I get nervous about new things.Robert Adam Gilmourhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03030109275684859704noreply@blogger.com
